Practical moving information

Packing is where a move is won or lost. Boxes packed room by room and labelled to the room they are going to turn unloading from a guessing game into a directed job.

Materials are included. You are not billed separately for the tape.

We label every box for its destination room and protect fragile items before anything is loaded, so unloading stays organised at the other end.

Full packing, or just the fragile things

Full packing covers the whole property. Fragile-only covers glass, china, artwork, mirrors and anything else you would rather have wrapped by someone who does it every day, while you handle the books and the bedding.

Fixed-price packing and moving

For a whole property, packing and the move itself can be bought together at a fixed price set by the number of bedrooms, rather than by the hour.

Common questions

Do I have to pay for boxes and materials?
No. Professional packing materials, bubble wrap, shrink wrap, wardrobe cartons and furniture blankets are included.
Can I book packing for the fragile items only?
Yes. Fragile-only packing covers glass, china, artwork, mirrors and anything else you would rather have wrapped professionally, while you pack the rest yourself.
How is packing priced?
By the hour if booked alongside a move, or as part of a fixed-price package by bedroom count if you want packing and the move bought together.
Will boxes be labelled for the right room?
Yes. Boxes are labelled for the room they are going to at the new address, which is what makes unloading a directed job rather than a guessing game.
Do you unpack as well as pack?
Yes, unpacking is available at the destination if you want boxes emptied as well as delivered.

How much does packing & unpacking cost?

The main factors are the vehicle and crew, loading and unloading time, and the distance between your two addresses. Access and any packing or furniture work help us build the rest of the quotation.

Vehicle, crew and time
For hourly moves, the rate depends on the vehicle and number of movers. Hours are billed as worked, subject to a 2- or 3-hour minimum depending on the vehicle. Tell us what is moving so we can confirm a suitable team and allow realistic loading time.
Distance and access
A vehicle-specific per-mile charge is added. Stairs, parking and the walk from the vehicle to each front door also matter: a short local journey can still involve a long loading day. Tell us about working lifts and any loading restrictions at both addresses.
The work you need us to do
Furniture dismantling and reassembly are priced per item. Packing requirements and any additional collection or delivery stops should be agreed before the move, so the quotation reflects the whole job.

A driver-only rate is not a fully crewed price. We confirm the vehicle, crew, scope of work and VAT treatment with your quotation.

  • Second-floor stairs: £20 per property. Ground and first floor are included; a working lift means no stair charge.

What size removal van and crew will I need?

Property size is only a starting point. The volume of furniture and boxes, access, parking and unusually large items also affect the vehicle and crew we recommend.

A starting point for your inventory

The capacities and minimum bookings are from our fleet data. Property suggestions are guidance, not a guaranteed vehicle allocation.

How many movers will attend?

The rate card offers 2 movers, 3 movers, 4 movers, as well as driver-only bookings. Bedroom count does not decide the crew: tell us about the furniture, stairs and any heavy items, and confirm who will handle loading and unloading when you book.

Access can change the vehicle
Narrow roads, low entrances and restricted parking may make a smaller vehicle more practical. Share height restrictions and loading rules before a vehicle is allocated.
Volume matters more than bedrooms
Include the loft, shed and garden furniture in your inventory. A lightly furnished three-bedroom house can have less to move than a full two-bedroom flat.
Large items and longer journeys need a plan
Flag pianos, heavy furniture and oversized pieces early. If the load may need more than one vehicle or journey, discuss that before booking, especially when the destination is a long way away.

What happens on a packing day?

Whether it's the whole property or just fragile items, the crew works systematically by room, labelling every box for the room it's going to at the new address.

What changes from one move to the next?

Two moves of the same property size can run very differently. These are the things that most often change the vehicle, the crew or the time — and the details worth telling us when you enquire.

  • Packing only, ahead of a move you're doing yourself

    A standalone packing service is available without booking the move itself — useful ahead of a DIY move or before items go into storage.

  • Fragile items only, alongside a move booked elsewhere

    You don't need to book the whole move with us to get fragile items professionally packed — this is priced as its own service.

  • A full-property pack against a tight completion date

    The earlier we know the date, the more realistically the packing can be scheduled around it — this is the one thing that most often needs more lead time than people expect.

  • Unpacking only, after a self-managed move

    Unpacking is available as its own service too — useful if the move itself was handled another way but unpacking wasn't.
