Packing guidance

Packing and preparing for a move

Good preparation makes moving day easier to plan. It also makes it clearer which services you need the team to provide.

If you are packing yourself

Label each box by the room it needs to reach at the new property, rather than only by the room it came from. Keep documents, medication, keys and valuables with you rather than loading them onto the vehicle. Set aside anything that is staying so it cannot be loaded by mistake.

Items that need advance notice

Tell the team about large, fragile or awkward items, and about beds, wardrobes, desks or other furniture that needs dismantling. Dismantling and reassembly are separate services with published per-item pricing, so the necessary time and tools can be planned.

Materials and protection

Packing materials, including bubble wrap, shrink wrap, wardrobe cartons and furniture blankets, are included on AFS jobs. Fragile packing and full-property packing are available when you want the team to do that work rather than packing everything yourself.
